The past recipients select each new member of this elite list annually. The award has been given by PIM since 1972. Dan was chosen for his leadership in serving on the PIM Board support of PIM through donation of print services and participation in PIM events, and his support of the graphic arts industry through his activities in post-secondary education and representing industry interests to state and national government bodies. This award is presented to an outstanding individual who is truly an ambassador of print, and Dan certainly exemplifies that. |

In August 2008, President Bush signed into law the Consumer Product Safety Improvement Act (CPSIA), which requires manufacturers of domestic and imported children’s products, including books and other printed products, to test and certify their products to ensure they meet specific lead and phthalate (e.g., plasticizers that could be found in inks, coatings, and adhesives) content limits established by the CPSIA.
Since CPSIA was signed into law, there have been several key changes. Check out this summary provided by Printing Industries of America to see what you should do next.
On January 30, 2009, the Consumer Product Safety Commission granted a 1 year stay of enforcement for testing and certification.
On February 5, 2009, the Consumer Product Safety Commission issued an enforcement guideline for lead that goes into effect on February 10, 2009.
If you produce books or other materials intended for children, you should also check out the information on our website to determine if or how you will be affected. |
